Description:
Course Title: Traditional Tales, Humour, and A Christmas Carol
Students will be encouraged to think critically and to engage with the texts both analytically through essay writing and imaginatively through creative writing. This will provide breadth to the studies, a range of examples to work from, and models for creative writing. This will hopefully give students a good overview of some of the classics of English literature.

Description:
Has your child’s mind ever felt like a cluttered desk in dire need of organizers—full of thoughts, words, and ideas, but without a clear place for them to go? Do you notice them sometimes struggling to find the right words or to put their sentences together in a clear way? Logic serves as the organizer for that mental clutter. It gives students the tools to sort, connect, and express their thinking with clarity and confidence.
Logic is the science of right thinking and the method by which your child can make sense of the world, understanding the foundation of reason itself. Special emphasis will be placed on the Orthodox view of logic, with students exploring examples from the Fathers of the Church and analyzing how they applied logical principles in their writings and teachings.

Narrative
Description:
This course combines an excellent grounding in narrative basics where students get to grips with story elements. We look at a range of narrative extracts from the Bible and from traditional folk tales. Students learn to paraphrase, invert, condense and expand on stories with their own original writing techniques. Students are introduced to a range of techniques, figures of description and figures of speech which allow them to enrich their written expression. They are encouraged to use these techniques in their own writing.
The second part of the course focuses on honing and developing grammar skills. We focus on punctuation, parts of speech, verb tenses and sentence structures. Students learn how to use language accurately and precisely in order to encourage clear and concise communication.

Description:
Building on earlier studies, this course continues the exploration of history from an Orthodox Christian perspective. Students will examine world events, civilizations, and movements through the lens of the Church’s teaching, considering how Orthodox tradition interprets the meaning of historical change. Emphasis will be placed on understanding not only what happened, but also why it matters for the life of the Christian. Through readings, discussion, and written work, students will grow in their ability to analyse history critically while remaining grounded in the faith.
